Hello Everyone,I have finally received the official statement from Activision regarding GS support in SoF. This message will leave you with more questions than answers but here it is. Regards, Stuart Galloway ACT LABS Marketing Manager "During the late stages of development of Soldier of Fortune, Activision made the decision not to include support for the ACT Labs light gun in the product. This was a business decision made by Activision's senior management. To the extent that ACT's light gun customers are upset about our decision, we are sorry, but we have no intention of changing our decision and including support for the light gun in Soldier of Fortune in the future."

Obviously a disappointing decision. Couldnt have come from a bigger jerk than Lasky. This turd excercised options and sold 48 300 shares of Activision for a profit of a cool $390 000 U.S., right before the stock collapsed, leaving common shareholders holding the bag. And the arrogans to tack on the "we have no intention of changing our decision and including support for the light gun in Soldier of Fortune in the future." Is he afraid that 48 GS owners might pester his mighty company? No wonder Activision is hitting the skids with jerks like that running the show. What happened to management that actually likes games and supports innovation?IP: Logged |

Hey Actlabs, you likely have a demo of SOF with lightgun support. Why don't you leak it. Whats the downside? They barely even acknowledge your existence. That would make everyone happy except options cashing "business decision" making Lesky. While you're at it please publish his e-mail, I coulnd't find it in the Activision directory.IP: Logged |

At least we should get the demo of SOF with GS support from GS Zone. "Somebody" should consider that we have bought the game because of the GS support. Maybe Glitter could help us ... At http://www.glitterstream.net there is both a Quake2 mod and Half-Life mod that lets you use the guns.IP: Logged |

I can fully understand where everyone is coming from. We had the SOF demo up and running with our gun system. You guys saw the videos and we received tons of positive feedback on that. The problem is that we are under NDA with Activision and the information on how to enable gun support in the SOF demo is something that I'm pretty sure falls under that confidentiality agreement. I would be more than happy to disclose how to test it out with our gun for all you tweakers out there so you can experiment but we would need permission to do that and I doubt it would be granted. Sorry guys it's a rock and a hard place deal. Brandon Crick ACT LABS

Well, this bytes. I bought the game for the gun support, and now there is none. I have a useless game sitting on the selves that I shelled out $40+ for. We should have been notified PRIOR to the release of the product so we would know what to look for. I'd recommend asking EA to offer us a discount coupon for a free game, or offer us a refund for our hassles. -JOe IP: Logged |

I take it that the demo has support, just has to be activated, probably a registry setting. Now what about the full version?IP: Logged |

From what we got here, either they change the command, or they remove the support completely from the game. But they are NOT the only one who developed a shooting game and are so scary to associate with a gun. Alex IP: Logged |

So this is not about lack sufficient GS market, but Activisions legal department worried about the gun bringing negative publicity? If so sorry Activision the gore is in YOUR game, not the controller.IP: Logged |
